A coalition of large health systems, employers and insurers would like Donald Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress to keep the march from fee-for-service medicine to value-based care going after President Barack Obama leaves the White House.

The 43-member Health Care Transformation Task Force includes Aetna; Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Michigan, Texas and Massachusetts; major employers like Boeing and Qualcomm; and health systems like Advocate Health Care, Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives.

HealthCare Finance: "Task Force Pushes Trump Administration to Preserve CMMI, Push to Value-Based Care"

The Health Care Transformation Task Force, a 43-member consortium of purchasers, providers, payers and patients, is making a case to the incoming Trump administration that the shift from fee-for-service to value-based payment models is worth preserving. In particular, the group stressed the importance of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation in promoting such models.

In a letter sent to Congressional leaders and members of the Trump administration, including incoming Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, the task force said the successful shift from volume to value requires a close link between the federal government and the private sector, lauding CMMI as a crucial link in that regard.

Fierce HealthCare: "Task Force Calls on Trump to Back Value-Based Care"

The Health Care Transformation Task Force called on the incoming Trump administration in a letter sent Tuesday to continue efforts to replace fee-for-service payment models with value-based care.

 

The task force, which includes patients, payers, providers and purchasers in its ranks, notes in the letter (PDF) that payment and care delivery innovation have long held bipartisan political support, and asked that President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President-elect Mike Pence and leaders in Congress make it clear to the industry that the support will continue.

Becker's Hospital Review: "Health Care Transformation Task Force Calls on Trump Administration to Move Value-Based Care Forward"

A group that includes six of the nation's top 15 health systems and four of the top 25 payers urged the Trump-Pence administration to make a commitment to value-based healthcare payment reform.
